The research training group “Cultural Orientations and Institutional Order in Southeastern Europe” (DFG-Graduiertenkolleg 1412), which is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) and the Federal State of Thuringia invites applications for
1 Postdoc Position
which is to be filled by 01st of July, 2014
for a 18 months duration (without possibility of prolongation) by (exceedingly) qualified people from the below-mentioned disciplines. Applicants from the following disciplines are welcome: South Slavonic studies, Romanian studies, History, Sociology, Political Science, Southeast European studies, Religious studies (note that for the last-mentioned subject applicants may also enrol at the University of Erfurt — the subject offered here focuses on Orthodox Christianity in Southeastern Europe).
The central focus of the research training group lies in the conflict between cultural foundations of Southeast European societies and Western concepts of politics, culture, religion and society as well as their institutional acquirement. Particular emphasis lies on the questions on the relatedness of collectivity and individuality in the overall cultural concepts and patterns of behaviour, the basis and structures of interdenominational, interreligious and interethnic forms of cohabitate as well as the transfer and adaptation of institutions.
The acceptance of the scholarship implies the regular participation in the research training group programme. It is expected that the stipendiary has his/her place of residence in Jena or Erfurt by the time the scholarship starts. The amount of the scholarship is — depending on age — between 1.365 and 1.467 EUR per month with an additional grant for material expenses of 103 EUR monthly and child benefit if applicable.
