Dr. Motoki Nomachi

Motoki Nomachi is Associate Professor in the Slavic-Eurasian Research Center (SRC) at Hokkaido University, Japan. He holds a PhD in Slavic linguistics from the University of Tokyo. His research interests are in language contact, linguistic typology with a special focus on Polish, Kashubian, Slovene and BCMS, sociolinguistic topics on Slavic literary micro-languages such as Banat Bulgarian, Lachian and West Polissian. Dr. Nomachi has published over 50 articles and edited 10 volumes, including The Grammar of Possessivity in South Slavic (2011, SRC), Slavia Islamica: Language, Religion and Identity (2011, with Robert Greenberg, SRC), Grammaticalization and Lexicalization in Slavic languages (2014, with Andrii Danylenko and Predrag Piper, Otto Sagner), The Palgrave Handbook of Slavic languages, Identities and Borders (2015, with Tomasz Kamusella and Catherine Gibson, Palgrave Macmillan), and Serbica Iaponica: Doprinos japanskih slavista srpskoj filologiji (2016, Matica srpska).
